As we head towards Easter, we want to reflect on our relationship with Jesus. Do we know about Jesus? Or do we know Jesus?
After talking about his many accomplishments, the Apostle Paul said: “But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him”...,
Guy King once summed it up this way: “All financial gain, all material gain, all physical gain, all intellectual gain, all moral gain, all religious gain—all these are no gains at all compared with the Great Gain.” We believe that the key to experiencing a great life is gaining intimacy with Jesus. We want to know Him as Immanuel, Friend, Teacher, Miracle Worker, Lamb of God, Returning King, and more! Our hope is that over the next 6 weeks Jesus love will become more tangible for each of us as we dive into our new series, “knowing Him.”
LOOKING BACK:
- We had several events that were a big hit. Congrats to this years Chili cook-off winner Ben Harnos! Also, we had 45 people at our first ever Valentine’s Dinner. Thanks to the team and all those who came out!
- Bean’s and Bibles is now meeting Tuesday nights at 6:30pm and Dinner Church has been bumped up to 5:30pm. Please pray for these leaders and ministries as they try to reach new people with the good news!
- The youth had an awesome time at WinterJam!
- We were able to help out several families with some major benevolence needs!
COMING UP: Here’s a glimpse of upcoming events for the next 4-6 weeks:
Work Days - Monday, March 9th at 8am, Steve Holbrook will be doing some work on the sump pump system in the kid’s area. We would use some help taking broken concrete, etc up to the dumpster and cleaning up the area afterwards. Contact Steve at stevenrobin81@gmail.com for more info. Also, on Saturday, March 28 from 9am-1pm, we’d like to clean out the work room in the basement. One of our priorities is keeping the kid’s area dry, and this is a required step for one of the companies working with us. Contact Alan at alanclark53@live.com for more info.
We are in the midst of Lent. Check out westlandfmc.com/lent or facebook.com/WestlandFMC for weekly video reflections. Also, feel free to take a Lenten devotional at the welcome center.
Jesus’ last instructions to the church were to go make disciples and baptize them. If you haven't had the opportunity to publicly proclaim you are a follower of Jesus in this powerful way, we're here to help you do that! March 29th we'll be baptizing people in our Sunday morning service. If you want to explore what baptism is all about and ask questions, please join us for an intro to Baptism class on either Sunday, March 15 or 22 from 10-10:30 AM in the parlor. For more info contact Pastor Eric at eric@westlandfmc.com.
Women’s Retreat is the last week in March and it’s not too late to signup! For more info visit our events page online.
On Friday, 4/10 @ 7 PM join us for our Good Friday Worship Experience. It will include a silent and reflective time of scripture, drama, songs and receiving of Holy Communion together, and special guest Dr. Paul Patton. You don't want to miss this amazing worship experience!
Easter Sunday Celebration is Sunday, 4/12. Bring the whole family and friends to hear uplifting music and the greatest message of Hope. We’ll kick things off with a light continental breakfast at 9:30am and a fun Easter photo booth located in the lobby. Jesus has Risen! Let's Celebrate!
Easter is always egg-citing! The egg hunt kicks off at 9:45 AM with 3 age-specific areas (Infant-Toddler; Pre-School-Kindergarten; and 1-5th grade) in the church. Signs will be posted. Each child will be given a Resurrection Sunday goodie bag to help them as they grab those eggs! Not to worry, if your child is not able to attend the egg hunt, but your family will be attending worship, we will have a goodie bag set aside by the sanctuary doors, just for them.
Anchor (Student Ministries) runs Thursday nights from 7 - 8:30pm (doors open at 6:30). Anchor is currently in a powerful series called “Outcasts.” Hope to see you there!
